How to speed up iOS 10 on older devices?

iOS 10 introduces new products that can degrade older iPhones and iPads and accelerate battery discharge. How to prevent this?

iOS 10 has brought much significant news. As always - the new system means greater requirements and slower operation on increasingly older iPhones and iPads. The changes even affect iPhone 6S users who report a slightly slower application opening. I also managed to notice a much faster draining of the battery by my smartphone. So what can you do to at least partly prevent this process and speed up the system on older phones with the bitten apple logo?

Turn off animations and transparencyiPhone Motion

Animations make using your smartphone much more enjoyable. The problem is that on older devices they take away the potential of computing power that could be used for other tasks. Without animation, iOS 10 works faster and responds more efficiently to selected commands, especially if it is installed on an older device.

Animations can be turned off by going to Settings -> Accessibility -> Motion

Delete unnecessary programs and data

iPhones have it that if their internal memory lacks space, they work as if they had hiccups. To check the amount of free space and the list of programs that take up the most space, go to Settings -> General -> iPhone storage. Then select the programs we don't use and delete their data. We can also get rid of individual information stored by selected applications, such as selected episodes of Podcasts.

Disable background refresh of programsTurn Off iPhone

All services that run in the background take the battery and can charge the smartphone. You can turn them off or select individual programs that should run in the background. To do this, go to Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh

Turn off the phone for a while

We use a smartphone from charging to charging. We practically do not turn it off of our own accord. If this happens, it is most often the fault of the depleted battery. However, it may sound strange - it is worth turning the smartphone off manually, wait a moment, and turn it on again. Some recommend only restarting, but from experience, I can say that if everything else fails sometimes such a simple method can slightly speed up the operation of the device on any system.

Check Location ServicesLocation Services

Some applications running in the background require constant use of GPS. However, the vast majority of them can do without it. Especially that the discussed service (with a large number of programs) can significantly drain the battery. However, it does not affect the speed of the smartphone's operation.

It is therefore worth checking every program that has the"Always" option enabled because in most of them you can easily change it to "When I use". Some applications can do without our location. The availability of location services for individual applications can be found in Settings.
