If you are a YouTube fan, you have surely noticed that the application prevents you from listening to music after closing it. This is certainly annoying, especially if we are listening to our favorite music and want to do other activities on our phone in the meantime. So how do I make Youtube music play in the background? Fortunately, there is a way to do this!
You've probably had a situation where you want to listen to your favorite music and do some other activities on your phone at the same time. Other applications that have this option are not always updated on a regular basis and we will not find the latest music there. Youtube is the largest and most popular platform where we can find practically everything that interests us. The big downside, though, is that playing background music is not as easy as it sounds. Fortunately, there is a quick and proven way to deal with this problem.
How to play YouTube in the background by using VLC?
To play your favorite music videos in the background, just use this trick VLC and complete the task. Follow the steps listed below.
1. Download and install VLC for Android from Google Play.
Download VLC
2. Open your YouTube app and choose the video or music you want to play in the background.
3. Click the Share button.
4. Great, now find Icon Play with VLC and select it.
5. Now the VLC application will open for you, in the lower right corner click on the three dots.
6. The last step is to click the option to Play as audio.
Now VLC will only play audio from that file. It doesn't matter if it's a music video or a commentary from a soccer match.
You can minimize the VLC app, lock your phone, and put it in your pocket without worrying about some options being accidentally touched.
To recover the video, tap the play button in the top left corner of the VLC app. But remember not to hit the back button as this will stop the video and you will have to add it again.
Before you get too excited, this YouTube background play trick doesn't work for playlists, unfortunately. I tried to share the entire playlist the same way and nothing happened.
However, to get around this, you can create a new playlist in VLC itself and add the desired song from YouTube. This way you can enjoy the background playing of playlists as well.
It also doesn't seem to work on iOS devices. Tried pasting the YouTube video URL in the VLC app directly but no win.
