Now, every time you make a call to someone, including your contacts, they should see Unknown Caller, Private Number, or No Caller ID instead of your name.
Some cellular service providers offer the option to block the caller ID at the source so that no one can see who you are. In theory, this is also a good solution, not the fact that they can often be paid add-ons, so make sure you read the offer before requesting this feature.
Please note that this is not a perfect solution. We heard reports of users calling commercial numbers while using this service, only to receive text messages later asking them to rate the call.
However, if you do decide to go for this option, it is a good idea to ask lots of questions regarding the safety and reliability of the option offered by your cellular provider.
If you would like to hide your number for a specific call only, you can do so using special codes provided by national telecommunications companies.
For example, in the UK, one of the companies offers this service for free. Just add 141 to the beginning of the number you are calling and the recipient will not be able to see who you are; instead they will be displayed with a private number or without a caller ID.
The code 141 also works for home phones, so you can mask the origin of the call even on a landline phone.
This feature is available in many countries, but you need to contact your telephone company to check that the code works in your region.
