Please read the article below carefully and find out how to deal with such a problem.

1. Restart Chromecast Device

Once your Chromecast is not working, the first thing you should try is to restart the device.
The easiest way to do this is with the tried and true method of unplugging it, waiting for a minute or so, and then plugging it back in.
Wait a few minutes for it to boot, then try casting to your device again. Mostly this will fix the problem, but if your Chromecast still isn't working, continue to the next step.

To help you solve this problem, we have attached a video prepared by our experts below. You can also [VIEW GUIDE]

2. Check Wi-Fi Connection

As you've probably noticed by now, often when your smartphone, apps, or other connected devices stop working, it comes down to your router. Just because it works on a single device doesn't prevent it from having your Chromecast down.
Quick power cycle the router should eliminate any potential problems. Simply unplug the router for a few minutes, then reconnect it. After restarting the router, try connecting again.

Another possible cause of poor connectivity is the Chromecast's location behind the TV. The device is hidden, but may not be getting enough Wi-Fi signal to stream your favorite shows.

Conversely, if your Wi-Fi network is fine and you're still having problems, try plugging in the included HDMI extender and physically separating your Chromecast from your TV. If you're fortunate enough to own the more advanced Chromecast Ultra, you have the additional option of plugging an Ethernet cable into a power brick.

3. Reboot Computer / Smartphone

As always, many problems are solved with a quick and simple solution, namely a reboot. Whether you're transferring data from a phone, tablet, or computer, a quick restart may be just what you need.
If your Chromecast still doesn't work after restarting, go to the next method in the list.

4. Update Chrome Browser

If you typically transfer files from your computer or smartphone, there may be a newer version of Chrome available. This can cause your Chromecast to stop working or the cast button won't be displayed on different sites. Follow the steps below to check your computer for the latest update.

  1. Open Chrome on your computer.
  2. Click the More icon in the top right (three dots).
  3. Click Update Google Chrome (button will not appear if you’re on the latest version).
  4. Click Relaunch.

5. Perform Factory Reset

If all of the above-mentioned methods fail and your Chromecast still isn't working, it's time to do a factory reset. The good news is that you won't lose any data, but you'll have to reconfigure your Chromecast from scratch.
Without disconnecting your Chromecast, hold the button on the back of your device for at least 25 seconds. The TV screen will eventually go blank and the reset process will begin.

Once done, you can start the setup process again. If possible, it's best to use a different device than the first time. This will eliminate any problems with the device, and the process is as easy on smartphones, Windows, or Chromebooks.

6. Dimming or Off Chromecast

This is a more rare problem than what we mentioned above. This is when the Chromecast suddenly shuts down, thus periodically draining or restarting frequently, the problem is likely related to its power supply.

Chromecasts are powered using a USB cable in the box, and many TVs have USB ports conveniently placed next to the HDMI ports. Connecting a USB cable to a TV may seem like a way to save the cable, but it can cause problems with the power supply.

This can cause your Chromecast to stop working for several reasons. When turned off, the TV cuts power to USB ports, causing it to restart every time you turn off the TV. Worse, cheaper TVs can have misconfigured or unstable USB ports.

Simply unplugging the Chromecast USB cable from your TV and plugging it into the provided wall charger should fix the problem. If you don't already have a wall charger, try an old phone charger or buy a third-party charger. You can also upgrade to the latest Chromecast-enabled remote control and applications.
