How to check if an update is required?

There is probably no easier way to check the required update. All you have to do is look at the App Store itself and you will know everything.
If you see a red circle in the App Store with a number in it, there are new updates available that you need to download. The number there indicates the number of updates.

1. At first, open the App Store app.

2. In the upper right corner, go to your account.

3. To update the application, click the Update button next to the icon.

Before attempting to update any apps first, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi. The updates can be quite large and therefore unsafe for your data plan. Disconnection during the update is also sometimes problematic and then you have to resume or restart the whole process.
Typically, the download and duration of the update largely depend on the size of the update, and the process itself may take a few seconds or a few minutes. You can easily see this by observing the circle that replaces the Update button when it fills with a dark blue color.

If for some reason you want to stop downloading updates (which we advise against as this may cause app problems) then simply touch the square in the center of the circle which replaces the Update button, or back on the home screen you can touch the app icon itself which will pause the download.

What to do when the update freezes in progress?

The easiest way here would be to simply restart your iPhone or iPad to see if that fixes the problem. If the problem persists, you can touch and hold the application icon until it starts to wobble. Tap the little X that appears in the top left corner to uninstall it, then go back to the App Store and reinstall the app. That should fix the problem.
